About Humla Limi Valley Trek

Humla Limi Valley Trek traverses around the western Nepal in remote and unspoiled Limi Valley. This trek will take you way back in time and open hundreds of years old culture and lifestyle. The isolation of the region has kept it far away from modernization. It is like the time has stopped for this part of Nepal. Moreover, ancient Buddhist tradition mixed with shamanistic influences is still an important part of daily life here.

During the Humla Limi Valley Trekking, the trail moves along the salt trading route and pilgrimage route. You will cross the Nara La Pass (4,620 m) and other small passes. The trek offers stunning landscape views along with many Himalayan mountains. As the trail passes through dense forests, you might get to witness snow-leopard, blue sheep, hyenas, musk deer, jackals, etc. The trail is difficult and demands good physical fitness.

Enjoying beautiful scenery, land at Kathmandu airport. Complete the customs and meet our representative at the Airport terminal gate waiting for you holding your nameplate. He takes you to the hotel. Later, meet with your tour guide at the hotel lobby and go on welcome dinner.

Begin your day slowly with a refreshing cup of coffee and delicious breakfast. After that, go on a guided sightseeing tour to UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Boudhnath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. In the late afternoon, you meet with your trek guide. He will brief you about the trail and go through all the gears for the last time.

Today, you fly to Nepalgunj, which is the border region. Land at the airport and move to a hotel. If you want you can visit the nearby market.

Today, you will take another flight to Simikot, early in the morning. Flight offers amazing scenery and snow-capped mountain views. From here, begin ascending to a small pass and descend to Dharapani. The trail passes through lush pine forests and small villages. You will set the camp near the Karnali River.

Following Karnali River, you begin trekking and ascend & descend as the trail move. Further, the trail passes through a narrow gorge with high rocky slopes and terraced fields. Passing through two natural hot springs, you ascend and reach Kermi village. Here, you will visit Laikyo Gompa and Lhundrup Choeling Gompa.

Most parts of the trail include ascend. Traversing through a lush forest of pine, you descend by another forest. Cross a bridge and reach a small village, where you will stop for lunch. From here, you walk for around three hours and cross a bridge. The trail leads you to an open field near Chumsa Khola, where you will spend the night.

Trekking through dense forests of pine and birch, you ascend and reach the top of a glacial moraine. The trail further crosses many streams and Chusa Khola. From here, you ascend to Dharmasala for a night stay.

After having breakfast, you begin ascending towards Nyala Pass. Crossing the pass, you will enter in beautiful Limi Valley. The trail descends to Talung, which is the first village in the valley.

The trail moves high above from Tshom Tso, a shoreline of 1,200 m. Crossing many rivers, you ascend to Tukuche Valley. The trail then leads to Lapcha La (5,688 m). From here, you trek and reach Jang for night stay.

Today is a day of rest. You will spend the day exploring Jang village. You can also climb to a valley above to witness wonderful views. Jang is a beautiful village surrounded by cliff rocks and peaks.

The trail descends and passes by stone chortens and Renzin Ling Gompa. It is a very important religious site in Limi Valley. The trail then becomes rugged and steep. With a few ascends and descends, you reach Halji. Here you get to visit an ancient gompa, which used to visit by Rinpoche.

The trail ascends and descends to Till. Leaving Halji, you pass through fields and drop down to Tache Chu. Further, crossing a bridge, you walk and cross a suspension bridge. From here, the trail ascends to Till that welcomes you with superb views of mountains.

The day begins with ascend through grazing fields and pass by small villages. Further, the trail moves along a small stream and ascend. Enjoying an excellent view of the Humla Karnali River, you reach Manepene village.

The trail descends, and further, passes through the landslide area. You see the stunning view of Nara La (4,590 m) and slowly descend through the barley field and reach Hilsa.

The trail gradually ascends along a few narrow paths to Nara La Pass. Passing by a small lake, you descend to Sipsip and then to Yori villages. From there, you walk on a windy trail and reach Palbang.

It is going to be a relaxing day. Most parts of the trail descends. On the way, you might get to meet with trekkers of Mt. Kailash. The trail passes through lush juniper forests and takes you to Mucha.

Following the Humla Karnali river, you cross a bridge and trek along the lower trail. After a few ascends and descends, you reach Yabang. From here, you ascend on the steep path and reach the trading center of Humla and Bajura. Further, you walk for half an hour and cross a suspension bridge to reach Chums Khola.

You ascend and reach the trail junction. From here, you trek towards Nyalu Lagna and follow the same trail back towards Dharapani.

Walking along a low route, you pass by Masigaon and ascend to Simikot. You will be retracing the trail.

An early morning flight will take you back to Nepaljung and then to Kathmandu. Move to the hotel and rest. Later, stroll on the vibrant streets of Thamel and end your day dining in one of the many restaurants in Thamel.

Today, you can spend the day as per your wish. Visit nearby tourist sites and explore the bustling streets of Thamel. Dine-in a fine restaurant and enjoy your last day in Kathmandu. In the evening, you will have a farewell dinner organized by the company.

Best time to go to Humla Limi Valley Trek

Spring (March to May) and Autumn (October to November) is the best time to go on Humla Limi Valley Trek because of stable weather. The sky remains clear with warm days, perfect for trekking. During Spring, the trail gets bloomed up with numerous wildflowers, whereas in Autumn, you get to be part of several festivals.

Other seasons Summer, Monsoon, and Winter is not an ideal time to go on this trek. The unstable weather and gloomy days make the trekking difficult. Heavy rainfall results in the slippery trail and harsh cold all the accommodation on the trail.
