With a scenic drive from Pokhara, you reach the starting point of the trek, Nayapul. From here, trekking through dense forests and small villages like Ulleri, you reach Ghorepani. It is a lovely village surrounded by beautiful rhododendron forests, hills, and snow-capped mountains. Just above these villages is Poon Hill. To acclimatize your body and witness glorious sunrise, you hike to this place, and further, drop down to Ghorepani. From here onwards, the trail gradually descends through dense forests and villages.

Land at the airport and meet with our representative at the terminal gate. He will transfer you to the hotel and quickly brief you about the day program. Rest for a few hours and meet with other team members over welcome dinner.

Begin the day with a visit to a few monuments like the holy Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Later, in the day, you will arrange and check all the gears along with your guide. If any of it is broken or not working properly, you will also do shopping.

After having breakfast, you drive to Pokhara, the city of lakes. The drive will be long and offers beautiful views of rolling green hills, rivers, terraced farms, and small settlements. Upon reaching Pokhara, you head to the hotel and rest for the day. In the evening, you can explore the Lakeside market. There is also the option of boating on Fewa Lake.

Leaving Pokhara behind, you begin driving towards Nayapul. The drive will be bumpy and presents the outskirts view. From Nayapula, you begin trekking through small villages, teahouses, and green hills. You will then cross Tikhedunga Khola on a suspension bridge and gradually ascend on a steep trail to Ulleri. You get to see superb views of Mt. Hiunchuli and Annapurna South.

A steep climb from Ulleri leads to Ghorepani. The trail goes through dense forests of oak & rhododendron. You reach Banthanti and then Nangethanti. From Nangethanti, an hour-long drive takes to Ghorepani village.

You go on a short hike to Poon Hill to acclimatize your body and observe gorgeous sunrise. Poon Hill is a very famous viewpoint in the Annapurna region. Along with sunrise, you also see wonderful views of the Himalayan mountains. Later, you have breakfast and begin trekking towards Tadapani. The trail ascends along a ridge and goes through lush forests pf rhododendron & pines. Further, you descend through small villages and crossing a bridge, you reach Tadapani.

Trekking along terraced fields, you cross a suspension bridge over Modi Khola. On the way, you get to see gorgeous views of lush forests, terraced fields, mountains, and hills.

The trail descends to Kande through the forested trail. From here, you will drive back to Kathmandu. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and explore around.

Today, you will go on a guided sightseeing tour of Pokhara city. You will visit sites like Davids Falls, Gupteshwor Cave, World Peace Pagoda, International Mountain Museum, etc. If you want you can also go on paragliding or bungee jumping. However, let us know prior so that we can arrange everything for you.

Today, you drive back to Kathmandu. The route will be the same as before. Enjoying scenic views, you reach Kathmandu. Rest for a few hours, and stroll on the vibrant streets of Thamel. Later, you have a farewell dinner organized by the company.

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) Symptoms & Prevention

Acute mountain sickness or altitude sickness can become a major reason to ruin any trip. It is an illness that usually occurs during a high elevation journey. The downside of AMS is anyone can suffer from it regardless of their health and physical fitness. To keep this in mind, we always include adequate rest days in our itinerary and look out to small signs for caution.

Best time to go to Poon Hill Trek

Spring and autumn are the peak time of the year to go on Ghorepani Poon Hill trek. Months from March to May and October to November fall under these two seasons. The stable weather and moderate climate make the journey joyful and stimulating.

You can also go on Poonhill Trek 9 Days in winter (December to February), however, make sure to carry warm clothes to keep yourself going. Among all the months, June to September is not an ideal time to go on this trek because of monsoon.

Accommodation during Poonhill Trekking

During Poonhill Trekking, you stay overnight in a lodge. The lodge in this region offers basic facilities like a small room with a few furniture, and most of the time common washrooms. The rooms are generally on a twin-sharing basis, which means you have to share the room. If you are looking for a single room, let us know priorly, so that we can try our best to arrange one for you. However, we cannot promise you.

Food & Water on Poon Hill Trek

Meals are served as per the menu of the lodge. As it is not that of a high elevation trek, which means you will have a wide range of options for meals. From rice, soup, curries, eggs, meat, sandwich, momo to confectionery items and beverages, you will find plenty of options to dig in. With that said, dal bhaat tarkari is the most staple, filing, and affordable one.

Water is available in every lodge and tea shops. You can get boiled water from them and re-fill your water bottle. For extra safety, do carry water purification tablets. We request you not to buy plastic water bottles on the way, as it helps to reduce the waste during the trek and preserve the environment.
