About Chulu West Peak Climbing

Chulu West Peak Climbing takes you to the north of the Annapurna range. To be more specific about the location of this peak, it is situated in the large Damodar Himal. The easter limit runs south from Chako, whereas Peak 6687 is in a north-to-south direction along the Hunlung Khola, Nar Khola, and Phu Khola. It is one of the most famous peaks to climb in the Annapurna region. Standing 6,419 meters above the sea level, scaling Chulu West Peak is a strenuous peak to climb. From the very beginning of the journey to the top of the peak, you will get to witness spectacular landscape views. The trail offers minimal technical climbing, but the high altitude and exposure to cold make the journey overall strenuous.

Chulu West Peak Climbing also traverse the Annapurna Circuit Trail. The trail leads to lovely Manang village, where you will visit centuries-old monasteries and caves. You get to experience the rich culture and tradition of locals. After scaling the peak, the trail further moves to one of the most challenging passes in Nepal, Thorong La Pass. Crossing this pass, you drop down to very significant pilgrimage sites of Hindus and Buddhists, Muktinath Temple. From here, the trail leads you to Jomsom, and a scenic flight from here will take you to Pokhara.

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, one of our team members will pick you, and take you to the hotel. Everything for your trip with us has been booked in advance. Rest for a few hours, and in the evening, join welcome dinner organized by the company.

Have a delicious breakfast and go on a guided sightseeing tour. Visit monuments like Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhnath Stupa, Swayambhunath, PatanDurbar Square, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. All of these places are part of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Later, in the day, you will prepare for Chulu West Peak Climbing.

Today, you will drive towards Jagat located west of Kathmandu. enjoying scenic views, you reach Besisahar, where you will take a short lunch break. The drive then goes along the rough and dusty roads. You cross several rivers and move along the Marsyangdi river to reach Jagat.

Descend along the Marsyangdi River and trek through dense forests of oak & pine. The trail then passes through small villages like Sattale, Tal, and Karte. Enjoying beautiful views of Annapurna range and green valleys, you reach Dharapani.

Leaving Dharapani behind, the trail ascends to Bagarchhap. On the way, you get to see superb views of Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II. Ascending along a mule track, you pass through lush forests of oak, fir & pine. Further, the trail passes through a riverbank and take you to Chame.

Trekking through a steep narrow valley, you head towards Upper Pisang. the trail offers superb views of Paungda Danda rock face, Annapurna II, and Pisang Peak. Further, you descend to the Manang Valley Floor and move towards Upper Pisang. You also pass through heaven get today.

The trail ascends via Geru village along with presenting amazing views of Annapurna range, Tilicho Peak, and Pisang Peak. You will trek through Tibetan settlement and reach Manang. You get to see excellent views of Ngawal (3,660 m).

The day begins early in the morning. Have a warm breakfast and gear yourself. Hiking on a rugged path, you reach stunning Ice Lake. From here, you get to witness surreal landscape views. After spending some time, you descend back to the teahouse.

Today, the trail moves towards the last settlement area, Ledar. From Manang, you ascend through small villages enjoying excellent landscape views and reach Leder.

Leaving Ledar behind, you move to Chulu West Base Camp. The trail ascends offering wonderful views. The team will carry all the tents and other required equipment to the base camp.

It is a rest day. You will explore the nearby areas and go on a short hike to acclimate your body. If you feel any difficulty let you know your guide immediately, as it can be a sign of AMS.

Today, you move towards Camp I. The distance from base camp to Camp I is not too long, however, the high altitude makes the walk tiring.

This is another rest day for your body to acclimatize. We have made sure to add enough rest days amidst the climbing period so that you can successfully reach the summit and return. During your rest days, you will go on short excursions, and your guide also informs you about basic climbing techniques.

It is a short climbing day but again exposer to cold and sun makes the climbing exhausting. You guides fix the rope whenever it is required and help you cross all difficult parts.

Today, you will wake up early in the morning and begin pushing towards the summit. The goal is to reach the summit before noon to avoid strong winds. From the summit, you get to see breath-taking views of Himalayas. Spend some time at the summit and descend back to Camp I for a night stay.

Following the same trail, you descend to Leder. The trail offers scenic views.

Enjoying stunning views of Thorong Peak, Mt. Syangang, Mt. Gundang, and other mountains, you ascend to Thorong Phedi. It is the lap of challenging Thorong La Pass that you are going to cross the next day.

Today, you will cross the very famous Thorong La Pass. The trail from Thorong Phedi ascends through a steep and rocky path and leads to the top of the pass. From the top, sensational landscape and mountain views can be seen. Further, you descend to a holy pilgrimage site, Muktinath.

The trail today leads you to Jomsom, a beautiful village. On the way, you get to see the desert-like landscape. From Muktinath, the trail drops down to Kagbeni and follows the Kali Gandaki river. On the way, you get to see the deepest gorge in the world, Kali Gandaki gorge.

After having breakfast, you take a scenic flight back to Pokhara. During the flight, you get to see aerial views of the Himalayan mountains. Upon landing at the airport, you move for your next flight, which leads to Kathmandu.

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) Symptoms & Prevention

As the elevation increases, the chances of acute mountain sickness also increase if the body is not properly acclimatized. It is also known as altitude sickness that can happen to anyone regardless of their physical fitness, age, and health. Therefore, it is very important to include enough rest days in between climbing. Chulu West Peak Climbing difficulty

Chulu West Peak Climbing is a difficult venture. The trail is tough and includes many steep and rocky sections. Likewise, the route to the summit includes many crevasses and technical climbing. Moreover, you will cross one of the most challenging passes in Nepal, Thorong La Pass. To go on Chulu West Peak Climbing, you have to be physically fit with strong stamina, good health, and prior trekking experience.

Best time to go to Chulu West Peak Climbing

March to May and October to November is the best time to go on Chulu West Peak Climbing. Due to stable weather, moderate climate, and a pleasant atmosphere, these months attract many climbers. Likewise, spring welcomes numerous vegetation and flora, while autumn is the month of the festival.

Monsoon (June to September) and Winter (December to February) are not the ideal time to go on Chulu West Peak Climbing 22 Days. In monsoon, the region receives rainfall, which makes the trail slippery and risky. Whereas, in winter harsh cold and extreme snowfall make the journey more challenging and almost impossible.

Accommodation during Chulu West Peak Climbing

Teahouse is the main accommodation in the villages, whereas during the climbing period, you will stay overnight intent. Lodge provides basic facilities along with common washrooms and twin-sharing rooms. The tents are carried by our porters. We will take a sleeping tent, dining tent, and toilet tent to the base camp.

Food & Water on Chulu West Peak Climbing

Food is offered as per the menu of the teahouse. There will not be a huge variety of dishes. You will find dishes options like dal bhat, curries, veggies, bread, egg, meat, soup, porridge, pudding, etc. As the altitude increases, the food option gets limited. In camp, all the meals will be cooked and served by the team members.

Water is available in all teahouse. You can fill your bottle every time it gets empty. We request you to not buy plastic water bottles on the way and instead carry a reusable water bottle. This will help to preserve the environment. For extra safety, carry a water purification tablet.
