About Putha Hiunchuli Expedition

Putha Hiunchuli Climbing is a wild and adventurous journey in the western part of Nepal. This journey will take you to the unspoiled Dolpo region, where you get to see breath-taking landscape views. Standing 7,246 meters above the sea level, Mt. Putha Hiunchuli is part of the Dhaulagiri range and surrounded by Annapurna South & Ganesh Himal in the west. Moreover, this mountain is also referred to as Dhaulagiri VII. Putha Hiunchuli was climbed by a legendary explorer and climber, Jimmy Robert in 1954. There are two faces of Putha Hiunchuli, one is a steep and technical ridge, whereas another is easier snow climb.

The book, Snow Leopard by Peter Matthiessen made this mountain famous to the travelers. Likewise, in another book called High Asia, it is mentioned that climbing Putha Hiunchuli from the northeast face is accessible from the Kaya Khola, which is side-stream of the Barbung Khola and is directly across the valley from Kakkot. As it is a very remote area and rarely traveled, reaching the base camp of the mountain itself is an adventurous and kind of expedition. Climbing Putha Hiunchuli is a perfect package for anyone who is looking to get a high altitude climbing experience, however on easy terrain.

The best thing about Putha Hiunchuli Climbing is that it can be climbed in the autumn season. There will be no unreasonable avalanche risk as well. Usually, the autumn season always has chances of monsoon snowfall, which makes climbing almost every Himalayan peak in this time of the year problematic. However, Mt. Putha Hiunchuli is the best peak to climb in this time of the year as there are no such risks. It is one of the newly added 7,000 meters above the climbing peak in the Himalayas.
